Back in 2015 (I think), I gifted my friend with a spa day and boudoir shoot. She really needed it! We played around with all sorts of poses and outfits and created some magical moments. One of those moments inspired my book cover…and I hadn’t even planned to write a book yet!
Fast forward a couple of year…I found the book concept to go with my book cover idea. But. Every time I tried to write my book; my brain went blank. I wasn’t ready…yet.
And now…here we are. A totally different book…and a totally different book cover!
When it came to editing my book and being coached through the whole process (thank you Kat Flannery), I changed my book cover at the last minute. My original idea just didn’t fit this book. It had to be feminine…and fun and eye-catching and vibrant and unique. It had to go POW! Because that’s exactly what happens when you include self-love in your life. Your life changes for the better!
So. Here it is!! BOOM! POW! WOW! Am I right?!
I couldn’t stop looking at it when it arrived in my inbox. I kept staring at it. But not because I loved it (palm to face). I kept picking it apart!! Where’s all the pink we talked about?!
I showed my hubby and he immediately said WOW! Just the reaction I had hoped for from my audience. He loved it!
I shared my concerns and he said, “Imagine this book was written by someone else and you came across it in a store…would you pick it up?” Absolutely I would…to which he responded, “Would you put the book back because there’s not enough pink on it?” I laughed. It sounded silly coming from someone else. Of course I wouldn’t put it back!
Instead of looking at it with personal attachment, I started looking at it logically and objectively. I fell in LOVE!
It’s funny (and interesting) how this book is about self-love…it’s about teaching you to look at yourself objectively, the way we would look at others…but I couldn’t even do that with my book…at first!!
We are all human. Nothing is perfect. But with the right guidance…critical judgement can turn into LOVE…no matter what the subject is!
